
Maine State Police Investigating an Apparent Fatal Shooting in Lewiston
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, the Maine State Police and Lewiston Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting.
The press release explains that at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, police got a call about shots being fired at 77 Rideout Avenue in Lewiston.
When they arrived, they found a deceased male in the middle of the street, who was later identified as 17-year-old Sahal Murdi of Lewiston.
The press release goes on to say:
The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause and manner of death
Witnesses to the incident report seeing both a silver Mercedes and black Dodge Challenger with temporary Maine plates fleeing the scene. The driver of the Mercedes has been identified and is reportedly cooperating with police.
The investigation into the incident if ongoing.
